There’s quite a few sem training courses and I try to report on those I find as I traverse the web. Certainly I can do a better job at posting but like most of us get bogged down in day to day affairs to maintain any consistency. That’s why it’s always nice when someone contacts me directly and reminds me I have a blog that needs “watering”. I was recently contacted by Justin Seibert, Founder & President at Direct Online Marketing, and blogger at Direct Online Marketing Blog, of course. He contacted me regarding his inability to post a comment here. Well I do need to get that corrected Justin, thanks for the heads up. I just didn’t know anyone was reading let alone wanted to comment.
Anyway I asked Justin about MarketingExperiments certification and he was kind enough to send me his thoughts so I’m passing them on to all of you. Still haven’t got the comments thing cleared up so please be patient and if you really want to comment send me your thoughts to dltemple at gmail.com.
I have certifications in both the Fundamentals of Online Testing and Landing Page Optimization.
What I really like about MEC is that focuses you on actual numbers and testing. Internet campaigns are direct marketing on the clear (or flax seed oil as Barry Bonds would have you believe). When you test early and often, you don’t have to worry about being right the first time – give it your best shot and then rely on the numbers.
They offer some great articles for free on their Web site (at least they did – don’t know if anything changed after their merger with Marketing Sherpa, probably my favorite search marketing research site). I would also recommend doing one course for most internet marketers. You get a formula and some ideas you can implement immediately to do your campaigns.
Having to do it all over again, I don’t know that I’d do a second course – still valuable, but I don’t think I learned that much more in Landing Page Optimization than I did in the Fundamentals of Online Testing.
One last note – their format for elearning is terrific! The presentations are done very well.
