And neither am I. Who is trying to fool whom? So you added your knowledge to Wikkipedia, spread the viral YouTube or planted your face and baggage on MySpace. So what? You still are NOT the person of the year!
Oh, you made up Facebook profiles and wasted days in Second Life while in your spare time mashed up 50 Cent’s vocals with Queen’s instrumentals? Who cares? You still are NOT the person of the year!
I’ll tell you which of you is the person of the year. While you are cryin’ because your YouTube wasn’t dugg, or your linkbait didn’t work, or wondering whether Britney was wearing underwear or not, American men and women are fighting a war!
These brave souls are getting wounded and dying everyday so YOU can drive your SUV’s and play on your computer in order for a self serving magazine to name YOU person of the year. It’s NOT you and its not me, its them, brave men and women that are putting their lives on the line everyday. You are NOT the person of the year, they are!
So now I’d like to challenge anyone who reads this blog to tell everybody, you are NOT the person of the year but you know who is. Let’s all get together and find a way to show our gratitude to the real ‘you’ that is person of the year. Please don’t buy into the myth that you are the person of the year, you should know by now who the real ‘you’ is.

[...] You are Mistaken If You Think You are the Person of the Year December 19th, 2006 by SEO Dance At least according to David Temple, because he has another view of who should really be noted as the Person of the Year.. I’ll tell you which of you is the person of the year. While you are cryin’ because your YouTube wasn’t dugg, or your linkbait didn’t work, or wondering whether Britney was wearing underwear or not, American men and women are fighting a war! [...]
I am sure you have great admiration for your fellow Americans who are fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but they are fighting a war majority of the world is either indifferent towards or vehemently against. How could one country’s army fighting for its own national interests killing thousands every month be the ‘Person of the Year’? I really doubt many non-Americans would agree with this assessment of yours.
Oh, I think making “YOU” the Person of the Year is just an easy out for Time. Remember 2004 when Bush was declared a “revolutionary” by the magazine? Rather than eat crow, the magazine’s editors decided to save face. Just my opinion.
Those poor American man and women … shouldn’t have re-elected that idiot Bush for a second term I guess … Wake up for Christ sake. You are screwing the world …
I agree with your sentiments, but it is not the fault of those serving the nation. They are doing a duty none of us would want to do. Of course I am not advocating war! My son served there and I am totally against this action but I cannot ignore them. They are heroes to us regardless of what the rest of the world thinks. You are not Person of the Year, they are.
I too am totally against this war and against the Bush administration. I did not vote for Bush in 2000 or 2004. However, I still support the troops, who are receiving inadequate armor over there and watching veterans’ budgets slashed over here. IMO, that is simply obscene.
Thank you Truffle, you are absolutely right!
No, sorry, that was 2003. Nice try with the melt your heart shit.

You, I don’t think just because soldiers were person of the year back in 2003 they shouldn’t be considered again instead of you! Please tell me anyone would choose you as person of the year.
Its not about getting hearts to melt, its about reminding people who might read this blog that a war is still going on so quit thinking you’re so special because Time magazine says you are. Please expend some of those efforts to let the service men and women that you know they are the you, not you.
Inadequate body armor is a liberal myth, TRUFFLE. I have asked this of Marine Corps and Air Force officers and enlisted. They are so loaded down with protection, if they had any more, they wouldn’t be able to walk.
semcert: the military people are my heroes because they are doing their job without crying like a bunch of nancies, even if some of them feel they are wasting their time in Iraq. They are doing what we hired them to do–follow orders. For that, I salute them.
Since I am apparently not Person of the Year in 2006, I am shooting for 2007. Hey…everyone should have goals.
That’s all I wanted to hear K, thanks. Keep on bloggin’.
Thank-you to our voluntary military for standing up to service our country and performing the task that are asked of them without hasting and only thinking about the millions of Americans they are protecting on a daily bases.
Melissa thank your for your comment.
If it’s a “liberal myth” then why were soldiers complaining to Rumsfeld about it and why did Cher have to start her own “Operation Helmet” for the troops? You might want to ask if those troops bought their own armor or if the military gave it to them.

Very nice insight…
Thanks for you comment Corey.
Nice idea for link bate. Well done.
What’s link bate?
Well, isnt this a nice topic. I dont care who you are or where your from. Unless you can credit yourself with something so great that every person on this Earth could easily say without debate that you are the person of the year then that means you are not. Bush? nope. Soldiers. nope. Ali Khamenei? nope. The point is no matter how great a singular or continuing effort you give unless we all agree there is no winner. Now if want to start dividing it up my category, country and agenda… Im sure we all could nominate a person or two.
Good point Dan but of course no one agrees even when Time makes that decision. In the meantime while I’m comfy in my home and Americans are fighting and dying for me, not matter what anyone thinks of the war, then my vote goes to them. I just want to acknowledge them for their sacrifices on our behalf.
